Description
Welcome to an inspiring two-part ceramic workshop where you will create your own clay pieces from scratch and then decorate them with glaze.
Session 1 – Creating with clay We begin with an introduction to the ceramic process and a demonstration of handbuilding techniques such as pinching, coiling, and slab building. You’ll use these methods to shape your own pieces—cups, bowls, vases, or whatever inspires you. We work in a small group of 5–6 participants around a large shared table, allowing for plenty of personal guidance.
Session 2 – Glazing & decoration Once your pieces have dried and been bisque-fired, we meet again to glaze and decorate them. You’ll get an introduction to glaze application, color choices, and how the glaze transforms during firing. After this session, I will fire your finished work, which will be ready for pickup in about two weeks.
The course is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with previous experience.
You’ll learn:
• Handbuilding techniques (pinching, coiling, slab)
• Glazing and color basics
• The full ceramic process from raw clay to finished piece
Included:
• All materials, glazes, and two firings
• Aprons and tools
• Coffee, tea, and light refreshments at both sessions
Duration: 6 hours (divided over two sessions)
